According to the complaint, Harshida Shetty, who was allegedly working in the display room for the previous 11 months, had supposedly hidden jewels under her apparel before quietly walking out of the store on Monday.
She had reportedly told her colleagues that the owner had let her leave for some essential business and she departed at 4.30 pm.
The crime took place later that night while staff were serving a client and discovered a gold arm band stolen from a display tray. Further inspection revealed that Harshida had, in fact, departed without informing the owner of the display area, Darshanbhai.
CCTV camera evidence allegedly showed her taking jewels from racks behind her counter and putting the items in her pockets, taking her bag from the storeroom and departing.
Later, a supply check revealed that gold chains, rings, mangalsutras, pendants, earrings, watches and other accessories valued roughly Rs 1.66 crore were missing.
Police said the charged woman’s phone has actually been switched off since the episode. Yes, an occurrence has been logged and a search operation is ongoing.
