The Haryana government’s decision to raise the minimum wage for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers is a big reason for this.

On Monday morning, Noida turned into a war zone as a huge protest broke out. Cars were set on fire, major highways were blocked, and hundreds of factory workers fought with police officers dressed in riot gear. The unrest turned violent when a group of workers in the industrial center of Stage 2 broke cars, including a police car, and threw rocks at buildings nearby as they marched through the streets demanding higher pay.

The workers who were protesting talked to the media about their problems and how hard it is for them to make ends meet with their current pay. A change in nearby Haryana is one of the main things that makes people anxious. Workers in Noida are asking why their pay shouldn’t go up too, since the Haryana federal government has decided to raise the minimum wage.

    Why Are Workers Protesting?

Most of the employees who are against it have said they make less than Rs 15,000 a month and looked into how they can get by on that amount. Some of them also said they have to work 12 hours a day and take 8-hour breaks.

Lakshmi, one of the workers who was against it, said, “We only want two things.” One is extra pay for working more than 40 hours a week, and the other is a minimum wage of Rs 20,000 a month. People are playing with us at work. “We don’t get our meals on time, and women aren’t safe.”

Another protester said that every worker has to make at least Rs 800 a day. “We make Rs 300 to 400 a day right now.”

A woman said that the costs of rent, college, and cooking gas are going up while wages stay the same. She was curious about how it is possible to pay for everything with only Rs 13,000 a month.

Rajesh, who was a demonstrator, needed a base pay of Rs 20,000 for an eight-hour workday because he was having trouble supporting his family. He said, “Our current income isn’t enough, so we’re left wondering how we’ll pay for our kids’ health.”

    Haryana’s Effect

The protests in Noida have gotten worse since the Nayab Singh Saini federal government in Haryana raised the minimum wage. People who work for companies in Noida feel like they’re not getting a fair deal because people who work in the neighboring state are making a lot more money for the same work.

The lowest pay for workers with a range of skills has gone up by 35%. This means that a skilled worker in the area will now make at least Rs 15,220 a month, and a semi-skilled worker will make at least Rs 16,780 a month.

Various workers protesting in Noida are wondering why they are getting lower incomes contrasted to their associates in Haryana that are obtaining a raise. In addition, they have discussed that the firms they are employed with areing to the minimum wage policies set by the main federal government.

Violence, And Just How UP Is Reacting

A variety of vehicles were set ablaze in Noida earlier today as a presentation escalated right into turmoil. Authorities have deployed senior personnel to the scene, where they are maintaining a close watch on the unfolding occasions. Police authorities are engaging with militants, advocating for calm and calmness, while utilizing restrained steps to maintain order and cautioning the general public versus spreading out or believing unsubstantiated claims.

Chief Minister Adityanath has actually claimed every worker needs to obtain a reputable salary, a safe workplace and basic facilities. He contacted commercial units to comply with labour regulations and attend to the concerns increased by workers. The state work department has actually been asked to hold talks with regional authorities and commercial systems. “Those creating problem in the name of employees have to deal with strict action and safety and security have to be increased in enterprise zones,” the Chief Minister stated, declaring that people should take care of a “conspiracy theory to revive almost-dead Naxalism”.
