New Delhi: The redevelopment of the New Delhi railway station is moving quickly. Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a recent video update that shows how the station is changing. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is in charge of the project. Its goals are to modernize the railway system and make it easier for passengers to use.
The Ministry of Railways says that work on the redevelopment of the New Delhi (NDLS) railway station is going full speed ahead. As the station gets ready to handle more traffic in the future, the project is expected to greatly increase its capacity and improve the overall experience for passengers.
The minister gave people a sneak peek at the new design of the New Delhi railway station in a short video that was shared on social media. One of the most important parts of the project is putting in almost 1,500 AI-powered cameras. These cameras will watch over platforms, concourses, entry and exit points, and other important areas to make sure they are safer.
The plan for redevelopment also calls for the creation of a control room based on Exception Event Display. In this room, AI-enabled systems will look at live camera feeds and notify officials right away if they see anything strange or dangerous. All employees and vendors will get ID cards and jackets to make it easier to identify them and keep them safe.
Bharat Taxi services will be connected to the station, and new signs will be put up to make it easier for passengers to find their way around.
As part of the structural overhaul, Northern Railway will build two new station buildings near Platforms 1 and 16 to replace the old ones. The new infrastructure will cover about 1,09,000 square meters and be able to handle up to seven lakh passengers every day.
The redevelopment of the New Delhi railway station will also include dedicated holding areas, apron zones to make it easier for passengers to get from elevated roads, and modern retail spaces. The station will also be fully connected to different forms of public transportation in the city, such as the Metro, which will make it easier for people to get around.
