Head of State Narendra Modi made sure that his clothes showed off how well the BJP did in Bengal, a state they have wanted to take over for a long time. He wore a traditional Bengali outfit with a white panjabi (kurta) and dhuti (dhoti) at the BJP base in Delhi during his speech.
People know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sends political messages through the clothes he wears. After the BJP’s historic landslide victory in Bengal on Monday, the 75-year-old arrived at the BJP headquarters in Delhi wearing a Bengali-style dhoti-kurta. He wore a white kurta (panjabi in Bangla) and a Tussar silk dhoti (dhuti in Bangla) with a red hemline. This is a typical outfit for Bengali men. He also got the nuance right by putting the end of the dhoti inside his kurta wallet, which is how Bengali men do it. The headscarf around his back was also a nod to the Bengali way of life because it was made of cotton and had “buti style” (dotted-like patterns) that are common in the state.
PM Modi gave up the record-breaking number of people leaving Bengal, which was the highest in any Indian state since independence. He also congratulated the BJP workers on the ground, saying that their contributions have been “exceptional and remarkable,” no matter how big or small they are. “You have made a new history,” he said.
PM Modi also talked about his famous speech from November of last year, when he said that the Ganga streams come from Bihar to Bengal after the NDA grand slam in Bihar. “The lotus has really bloomed all over, from Gangotri to Gangasagar, in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and now West Bengal.” He said, “Today, along the banks of the Ganga, there are BJP-NDA governments.”
At the same time, the BJP event in Delhi had a strong Bengali smell. People took part in shellfish coverings, and the Prime Minister also spoke in Bangla, saying “poriboton hoyegeche” (change has taken place).
The gathering, which has been trying very hard to make a difference in Bengal for a long time, has now taken the state in a very good direction. The exit polls gave all of them an advantage, but Mamata Banerjee said her Trinamool Congress will win 200 seats. The Bengal CM has repeatedly smashed the predictions, most famously during the 2021 elections. That being said, it looks like the amounts this time are correct.
The BJP has kept more than 200 seats, which has put the TMC in a bad two-digit position. Banerjee, however, did not agree with the results. She called the results “wrong” and said that the BJP and the Election Commission worked against her. “We will definitely get better,” she said.
