US Arrests Alleged Relative of Qasem Soleimani in ICE Crackdown

Iranian Nationals Detained Over Alleged Regime Links

US authorities have detained Hamideh Soleimani Afshar—allegedly related to slain Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani—along with her daughter, as part of a broader immigration enforcement action. According to officials, both were taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and are now facing deportation proceedings.

The US government also revoked the visas or green cards of at least four Iranian nationals believed to have connections with the Iranian regime. Officials stated that Afshar’s husband has additionally been barred from entering the United States.

“Lavish Lifestyle” Allegations in Los Angeles

US officials claim that Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter had been living a “lavish lifestyle” in Los Angeles for several years. Authorities further आरोप that, despite residing in the US, Afshar publicly supported the Iranian government and allegedly endorsed anti-American activities on social media.

Marco Rubio stated that individuals supporting hostile regimes would not be allowed to benefit from US residency. He emphasized that the administration is taking a firm stance against those linked to what it describes as anti-American actions.

Family Denies Any Connection to Soleimani

Despite US claims, members of Soleimani’s family have strongly denied any relationship with the arrested individuals. Zeinab Soleimani dismissed the allegations as false, stating that those detained have no connection to her family.

Similarly, Narjes Soleimani asserted that no close relatives of Qasem Soleimani have ever lived in the United States, further challenging the credibility of the US government’s claims.

Part of a Broader US Immigration Action

The arrests are part of a wider crackdown on individuals suspected of ties to the Iranian government. Earlier actions included revoking visas of Iranian diplomats and staff at the country’s United Nations mission.

In another case, the US also revoked visas of individuals linked to prominent Iranian political families, signaling a broader tightening of immigration and security policies.

    Background: Who Was Qasem Soleimani?

Qasem Soleimani was a powerful figure in Iran’s military establishment and head of the elite Quds Force. He played a central role in Iran’s regional military strategy and influence.

He was killed in a US airstrike near Baghdad airport in 2020, an operation ordered by then US President Donald Trump. The strike significantly escalated tensions between Iran and the United States.

    Diplomatic Silence and Ongoing Tensions

As of now, Iran’s mission to the United Nations has not issued an official response to the latest arrests. Notably, Iran and the United States do not maintain formal diplomatic relations, which further complicates the situation.

Conclusion: Rising US-Iran Tensions Reflected in Immigration Actions

The detention of individuals allegedly linked to Qasem Soleimani highlights growing tensions between Washington and Tehran. While US officials frame the move as a matter of national security and immigration enforcement, Iranian authorities and Soleimani’s family have rejected the claims, calling them unfounded.

The situation underscores the broader geopolitical strain between the two nations, with immigration actions increasingly intersecting with international politics.
