Following President Donald Trump’s decision not to extend the sanctions exemption for Russian and Iranian oil, the costs of LPG, CNG, and PNG continue to rise. Because of this change, India will be able to buy oil from Russia and Iran under certain conditions. Even though there may be problems with the supply because of tensions in the Inlet of Hormuz, the Modi government has made sure that the supply of LPG and CNG in the region is affected, even though it is not fully operational yet.
The Department of Oil and Natural Gas has confirmed that the country has enough gas, diesel, and LPG, and that all of the distributors are able to keep up with demand and there have been no reports of stockouts. The ministry also said that internet LPG reservations have gone up a lot, reaching 98 percent. Since the 23rd of last month, the ministry has given out more than 14 lakh rupees worth of 5 kilo Free Trade LPG cylinders to help migrant workers. In addition, the ministry has seen a big increase in piped gas connections, with more than 4 lakh activations since March and another 4.88 lakh customers joining new relationships.
It is important to note that the Oil Administrative agency recently turned down a record that said the country’s LPG supply could take up to four years to recover, calling the case “deceiving.”The department said in a claim, “An insurance claim going around in some parts of the media, attributed to an unmarked government official, that India’s LPG supply might take up to 4 years to recover is actually misleading and gives people the wrong idea about the country’s supply situation.” It also said that India has actually branched out its purchases to the US, Norway, Canada, Algeria, and Russia, and that 800 TMT of guaranteed import payloads have already been secured and are on their way.
